We have a dedicated team of Family Liaison Officers - Mrs. Kim Piggott and Mrs. Sue Ross - who strive to provide pastoral support whenever needed.

Our role includes:

Summary of Role as Family Liaison Officers

As Family Liaison Officers (FLO) we aim to support the parents/carers of children at Leasowe Primary School.

Our role is varied, and we have experience in a diverse range of interventions with families.

Our primary role is to focus on early intervention and help when there are problems, big or small, at home or in school with the view of finding solutions before problems escalate. Our goal is to ensure your children feel safe at home and in school and aim to empower the children so they are able to achieve to the best of their ability.

We are the point of contact for parents and families who have difficulties. These may include issues around domestic abuse, housing, parental separation, attendance, health, social services, early years, police, counselling etc.

We attend CIN (Child in need) and CP (Child protection) meetings to represent the school and identify actions to contribute to the CIN/CP plan. We act in the best interests of the child, but will also support the family with meeting the requirements of the plan. We also act as lead professional for many families who are in TAF (Team around the Family).

Our main intention as Family Liaison Officers is to ensure we maintain the positive relationship between home and school.

Our Family Liaison Officers

Both our Family Liaison Officers are trained Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Kim Piggott - Kim has worked at LPS for 8 years in a variety of roles and she has been a FLO and DSL for over 4 years. She is dedicated to her role and has a wealth of experience in this field. With 4 children of her own she knows how important it is to have a good relationship with your child’s school. When her family were young she lived a military life and understands how it feels to need support and advice. She is very proud of her role and endeavors to make all those she works with feel comfortable and supported in a non- judgmental way.

Sue Ross - Sue has worked at LPS for 9 years but has had ties with the school for much longer as all her children have attended this school. She started her career here as a classroom teacher and moved to her Family Liaison role 18 months ago. Sue is passionate about life at LPS and strives to help all children succeed. She has also served on our Governing Body for over 12 years. Like Kim, she understands the importance of home/school relationships and prides herself in being able to make that communication easier for people.

Need a chat?

Many Parents and Carers, regardless of background, feel that there are times in their lives when they need advice and support. Parents are best placed to make choices for their children but all parents benefit from access to high quality information and advice to help them make the best possible decisions.
We are available for informal chats at any point during the school day.

Finally, as a mums ourselves, we know how precious your children are and it is our aim to be your friendly face when you need that bit of help.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here to help!
