School Meals

We are proud of our Health Promoting School.

The school meals that we offer at Leasowe Primary School are of a very good quality and follow the Government’s Nutritional Guidelines. We have a salad bar available each day to supplement the meals and to offer additional elements of the children’s 5 a day.

The meals are provided by a company called Chartwells, and we work hard with them to develop menus which the children like. Recently we invited parents to join the children at lunchtime for a meal.  They were very pleased with the quality of the food and our arrangements for the children.

Chartwells also provide our children with enrichment opportunities linked to healthy eating, such as Smoothie making, Ready Steady Cook competitions and Pizza making. We also hold ‘Theme Days’, eg St. Georges Day and American Day, where a special menu is provided and children can take part in food themed competitions.

We monitor the contents of children’s lunchboxes carefully and do not allow sweets or chocolate bars to be consumed at lunch times. We will always discuss this with parents and offer support and guidance regarding our healthy eating policy.

Our Healthy Eating Policy is available below but also from the school office if you wish.
