School of Sanctuary

Leasowe Primary is a School of Sanctuary

What does this mean? Simply, it is a school that welcomes all and is commited to providing a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment to all families especially those in need of sanctuary. Families from other countries, maybe war torn who lived in fear of persecution and seek a safe place to live and to bring up their children in safety.

We at Leasowe Primary strive to teach our children and our community how to be inclusive of all and what this means for our future in a multicultural world.

The three principles behind our teaching and being a School of Sanctuary are:

  1. Learning about what it means to be a family seeking sanctuary and the difference between refugees and asylu, seekers. What does the word sanctuary mean? Why would a family need to be seeking a safer place to live?

  2. Embed this learning into our children and our community so that we become an understanding, inclusive and welcoming collective.

  3. Promote and share our ethos, vision and achievements.

Here at Leasowe Primary we have worked very hard to become a School of Sanctuary and we continue to aim to be a safe community for all to live learn and grow together.

We are proud to be a School of Sanctuary!
